Our Lapidary Services

Here at Ivity Creations, we aim to provide a professional experience. As such we will always be up-front and honest about our capabilities in fulfilling your requests. 

Slab Slicing:

Although this can be updated in the future, the current saw capacity for our shop is approximately 6"x4"x12". We will not accept larger specimens to be sliced due to safety and reliability concerns. We also will ask that due to the small-scale nature of our workshop that you limit requests to 3 pieces of material at that size maximum, to ensure a reasonable turnaround on projects.

Our current charge per slice ranges from $5-$10 depending on the hardness of the material being sliced. Please expect  a minimum of 30 days from receipt of the material for us to process the material. Once processing is completed, we will reach out to arrange delivery of the materials. Shipping both directions is the responsibility of the client if they are not local to us. 

Cabbing Services:

Cabbing services will be provided on a pay-by-the-hour model. Project time will be estimated by amount of cabs expected from the material. Depending on material hardness, cab/hour times change, with softer materials being quicker to work. The following is a general rule of thumb; soft materials 4 cabs/hour, medium hardness 3 cabs/hour, high hardness 2 cabs/hour. Time spent on each project will be recorded, and clients will only be responsible for overages of up to 20% to account for un-knowable factors that can arise in the cutting process. Any time amount over that 20% will be our responsibility.  To give an example; If we estimate 10 hours of work, and end up working 13 hours on the project, the client will only be responsible for 12 hours of work total. 

Project times with cabbing services are not guaranteed due to an incredible amount of nuanced factors that are faced with each individual mineral type. As such we reserve the right to refuse projects that we do not feel safe fulfilling due to hazards related with the materials.
